Benvenuti a Bellinzona!

Capital city of southern Switzerland's Italian speaking Canton Ticino, famous for its three Castles that have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2000. Bellinzona is situated in the middle of the valley floor of the River Ticino, which connects the Alps to the Lake Maggiore. The perfect location for sailing, hiking and skiing. Bellinzona is also famous for its colourful and noisy Carnival and for the traditional market where on Saturday morning you can stop by one of the 120 stands that offer traditional food and have an "aperitivo".

CASTELLINARIA - Festival del cinema giovane

To make "castelli in aria", means daydreaming. Inspired by the 3 Bellinzona’s Castles, we called the festival by this significant name.

In 1988 the Castellinaria Festival del cinema giovane was founded in Bellinzona, Switzerland, with the intention of bringing young people closer to a quality cinema whose focus is their own universe, and expanding the message also to the adults.

In 2021 the Palacinema Locarno will be the organizational partner of this event. Inaugurated in 2017, the Palacinema is a brand new event structure hosting 3 cinema theaters, the Locarno Film Festival offices, the Ticino Film Commission and the school of cinema CISA.

Willkommen in Züri!

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and boasts an extensive cultural offering, from the annual Zurich Film Festival (which celebrated its 16th year in 2020) to Europe’s biggest street carnival (the Street Parade, in existence since 1992), odder local traditions such as “Sächsilüüte” and big concerts at Letzigrund or Hallenstadion. It is the home of one of Switzerland’s largest film schools (ZhdK) and has a lively film scene.

Jugendfilmtage

As Switzerland’s oldest youth film festival showcasing films made by young people for young people (films can be handed in by anyone up to the age of 25, and by film students up to the age of 30, competing in 5 different categories), the Jugendfilmtage are celebrating their 45th anniversary in 2021 (with a digital edition) and are proud to co-host the YAA for the second time.
